Ajit Doval Meets Russia's Patrushev to Discuss Arctic Trade and Defence

India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Nikolai Patrushev in Moscow on May 29. The discussions focused on Arctic trade corridors, maritime connectivity, and defence collaboration. Doval and Patrushev reviewed proposals from Patrushev's previous visit to New Delhi in November 2025, emphasizing shipbuilding cooperation and training sailors for polar operations. The Arctic route, promoted by Russia, aims to enhance India's access to energy resources and diversify shipping corridors, reducing reliance on chokepoints like the Suez Canal. Doval's visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and includes meetings with other leaders, reflecting India's strategic partnerships in the region.
