28 Dead as Severe Weather Hits Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, Madhya Pradesh

Severe weather conditions have resulted in 28 fatalities across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh in the last 48 hours. Uttar Pradesh reported the highest toll with 11 deaths, including six workers killed by a collapsing bridge in Hamirpur district. West Bengal and Bihar each recorded seven deaths due to lightning strikes and storm-related incidents. In Madhya Pradesh, three people died from lightning and roof collapses. Chief Ministers of the affected states announced financial assistance for the victims' families, with grants of ₹5 lakh in Uttar Pradesh and ₹4 lakh in West Bengal and Bihar. The India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for continued adverse weather in several northern states.
