Eleven Indian Sailors Injured in Hormuz Shipping Attack
On Tuesday, a projectile struck the Panama-flagged vessel MT On Peace off the coast of Oman, injuring 12 crew members, including 11 Indian nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the incident, stating that the injured sailors have been evacuated to Khasab, Oman, for medical treatment. The vessel had a total crew of 19, with 17 being Indian. India condemned the attack and called for an immediate end to such incidents, which have increased in the region following the collapse of Iran-US peace talks. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global oil and LNG supplies, making disruptions a significant concern for energy trade, particularly for India, which imports over 85% of its crude oil.
